I met her as a nervous, excited, doe-eyed freshman in college. I didn’t know anyone. My “artsy” group at orientation was cool and I never knew that the girl I met that day would become one of my greatest friends :)
She was the same size as me *shocker*. I had never had a friend that I could share clothes with. We had a lot in common and we got along wonderfully. Instead of going out on the fun freshman outings, we were too caught up in the stress of choosing our schedules and classes in the fall. Wow, what studious people we were…hah. It was the beginning of an amazing journey as friends and roomates, and lovers. Yes. Lovers. Justin, I know you understand. It’s okay, I took care of her while you were away.
She was my date for the next four years on our many outings to Freebirds, Javans, Presto Pasta, chick flick dvd’s, LOST, The office, and Sex and the City marathons on TBS and the CW. Lovers because we started to learn everything about each other… our habits, our routines, what we liked to eat, where we liked to go, what time we liked to take showers, how late we liked to stay up. Never before had anyone besides family learned those things about me. My sleeping habits immediately changed from promptly going to bed at 11pm to SUPER late night chatting, studying, tv watching, bumming around FUN until 3am. She opened my tastebuds up to new and exciting things. I was an EXTREMELY picky eater before I met her, and now I eat so many different things that I never would have ever tried in my life.
5 and a half years later, here we are. I’m glad I met you on the very first day I ever stepped foot on our college campus :)
My lovely friend, Michelle.
Here’s to 23 more birthdays to celebrate together as friends! and lovas.
