    4 WAY CHESS MARATHON

Uhh…the little horsey goes where? Oh…that’s the knight, you say? Oh…well that’s silly, it looks like a horse.

If I didn’t know how to play chess before saturday…I do now. Arthur, Omar, David, and Alex decided to take a crack at the 4 player chess game they found. It’s the same rules of regular chess, except with 4 players. Each man for his own.  They even developed a system where if anyone took one of your pieces away, you had to do push ups. I can’t quite remember how much each was worth. But, if the pawn got taken, it was 5 pushups, and went up in value as the chess piece’s value went up. If you lost (your king got taken), it was 40 pushups. It was definitely a marathon– WAY more to lose when there are 4 players. So, it made for an interesting game. It go to a point where we had to look up certain rules for this particular version of the game…just so we could clear some complications up. It turned into a VERY long game. These pictures are from when I was awake…I couldn’t last the whole night and ended up going to bed. Alex was the first to lose, and joined the ranks of David’s “army”…it was a very long time before David did his first set of push ups. Ultimately, David won, and therefore became the “King” of “Chess 4″. It was quite an accomplishment.

I love board games…and just playing games in general. But, I must say…the push-up element did not entice me with this game.

Teach me a new game, and you’ll be my new best friend. It’ll become all the craze in my world…until the next “new thing”.
